Little Takas Nappies
Thanks again to the Little Takas team for generously providing their nappies for trial, and to our testers and their parents for lending us their bottoms.
So without delay find out how we got on below:
Heidi and her daughter - Nappies trialled: Newborn
The fit was perfect for my newborn 7lb baby girl. Lightweight and beautifully soft on the skin. We love that they are biodegradable and offer an alternative to regular disposable and cloth nappies. We also love that they have no printed pictures using dyes all over them. We are also trialling Moltex and Seventh Generation nappies. We found Little Takas to be a wonderful product and will continue to order and use these nappies when out and about as they are a perfect complement to cloth nappies. But for now with such a little baby (6 days old) we are happy to use Little Takas exclusively.
Ro and her daughter - Nappies trialled: Toddler
I was actually very impressed. They were just like any other nappy I've used - they fitted well, they were able to hold a lot & didn't have to be changed too often. My only criticism would be to have a longer back on them so they go further up the bottom.
Lisa and her son - Nappies trialled: Infant
The nappies had good absorbency and did not leak. They seemed to be effective in drawing all moisture in and keeping bub dry (better that the nappies I am currently using). I did have a few problems with the side fastening tags in that a couple broke off when I was putting the nappy on, hence making the nappy unusable. I have not had this happen with any other nappies I have tried. I am not 100% sure on the cost of this product but if I opted for this product and it was at a higher cost would not be happy if this was a regular occurrence with the product.

Fantastic nappies, very much comparable to Huggies in terms of fit and quality. Perhaps the sizing is a tad smaller (shorter in length) than Huggies though? We had a few more leakage problems than I would have liked but I think the next size up would have solved the problem.
Chantal and her son - Nappies trialled: Toddler
I was really impressed. I thought they were as good, if not better, than Huggies. Really impressed with absorbency and elasticated legs to prevent leakage. I was initially sceptical about these nappies but after trying them I was truly impressed.
Annette and her daughter - Nappies trialled: Newborn
I really liked them. They were a better fit than the commercial market leader Huggies which meant that on my small newborn there was less spillage which saved lots of time on washing. They were a little less absorbent but just as comfy for her and looked just as slimline under clothes, plus had the added benefit that they were better for the environment.
Amelia and her daughter - Nappies trialled: Toddler
The first thing that stuck me about Little Takas was how soft they were. They really felt like fabric instead of the plasticky feel that many disposables have. While the softness was definitely a plus, I found that the outside of the nappies tended to get a build-up of pilling and fuzziness on them, and they also seemed to pick up every little bit of dust and dog hair off my floorboards! Consequently, by the time I needed to change my daughter's nappy, they were usually looking quite haggard! I also found the elastic around the legs was a little too curved, meaning that it was difficult to lay the nappy out flat at change time. This made changing an active toddler quite difficult, as the nappy would keep curling up underneath her as she rolled around. I loved the simple design, as did my 2 year old, always asking for the "leaf nappy"! And a major bonus for me was that they are 90% biodegradable. Overall, I was very happy with Little Takas - they were super-soft on my daughter's skin, the simple green leaf design was very appealing to me (and her!), and they performed well and were absorbent enough to last through the night.
Liz and her daughter - Nappies trialled: Crawler
The nappies were good for a short time on the baby and then they started to sag and look really full. On a number of occassions they leaked and baby definitely was much redder than normal.
They did fit very well and unlike most nappies look good in appearance.
John and his daughter - Nappies trialled: Crawler
Very good fit and performance. They feel good quality and it's nice to know they are better for the environment.
Tara and her daughter - Nappies trialled: Crawler
The nappies absorbed moisture well taking it away from the baby's skin and there was little leakage.
Price is a major factor in my nappy choice. If the biodegradable nappies were a comparable price to the commercial brands little Takas would be my preferred choice.
Siobhan and her twin boys - Nappies trialled: Infant
They were ultra soft and seemed to fit the boys very well. I loved that they did not have excessive cartoon/ pictures on them so they were ink free. They also were fully absorbent without any wastage of material. Unfortunately they did leak a little at times.
Jo and her daughters - Nappies trialled: Toddler and Newborn
My toddler has sensitive skin and the fact these nappies are very soft and lock away the moisture meant she had no redness or rash at all during the trial. The fit was extremely good and the leg elastics worked well. I also love the fact they are 90% biodegradable. They worked a treat overnight and were able to handle a lot of wee. However, the tabs could do with being a bit wider as I found they could come undone or break under the strain of a very heavy nappy. Easily overcome by putting some undies/nappy cover on over the top just in case, but stronger tabs would be a plus. Overall I loved these nappies, the feel, the design and the fit of them.
The newborn nappies are perfect and I have been using them exclusively on our new baby since she was born a month ago. The fit is ideal, we have had no leaks so far and they are very soft and flexible. I will continue to use these until things become less hectic and I can develop a routine and start using cloth nappies again. However, I'll still be using Little Takas when we are out of the house as they are so reliable and comfy. We have had no problems with the side tabs on the newborn nappies as the tabs are in proportion to the size of the nappy.
Nicola and her daughter - Nappies trialled: Toddler
I was very pleasantly surprised at how effective these eco nappies are. I have tried other eco nappy brands and stopped using them as they did not hold as much wee or did not hold the poo in! Both pretty crucial factors in selecting a nappy to a mum. I found Little Takas to be good due to them being compact (folded in 3 and very small to carry around spares), they held as much wee as my current nappies I use, and they kept the poo in. So very happy with this nappy, plus it does tick the environmental box which I try to do wherever possible with household products.
All testers stated that they would buy Little Takas nappies themselves and would recommend them to friends.
