Raw material - 100% post consumer recycled paper. Vegetable based inks. Unbleached hemp string.

Manufacturing – Paper stock is 100% post consumer waste made by Dalum Papir in Denmark which has the following Environmental Accreditations: ISO14001, EMAS, Nordic Swan, NAPM (UK) and Blue Angel (Germany). The paper production process recycles water and damaging chemicals are avoided.

Printing is undertaken in Australia at Finsbury Green, Australia's  first carbon neutral printer. The environmental protection measures used in the printing process include water use minimization, digital to plate printing (which uses less chemicals, energy and waste), the use of vegetable based inks made from soy and linseed oil (an alternative to mineral oil based inks), recycling or reuse of waste, low chemical and solvent usage and energy efficient production.

Isopropyl alcohol used in fountain solutions is the industry's chief source of greenhouse gas emissions and is used by most printers in Australia. Finsbury Green in 100% alcohol free. Chemical and solvent usage has been reduced by 90% and a chemical recovery system filters and recycles used washup solution from presses.

At the Earth Greetings Office, in addition to general office environmental management (recycling of waste, toners, energy efficient lightbulbs etc) hot water is created through solar power and solar panels have been installed to supply electricity, supplemented by 100% accredited Green Power. Native trees and shrubs have been planted outside the office area. Remaining emissions from transport and embedded energy in the office is offset through Carbon Neutral by planting native trees.

Distribution – Paper is manufactured in Denmark, and is shipped to Australia for printing in South Australia. Products are delivered to wholesalers throughout Australia in bulk via road freight.

Product use – The products and envelopes are made from recycled paper and due to the nature of the product, reuse (except for wrapping paper) is generally not undertaken.

Waste management – 100% post consumer recycled paper is used for all products. Most of the envelopes are also 100% recycled unbleached paper, those that aren't are made from 70% recycled paper. All of which minimise the amount of material headed to landfill. Packaging is 100% biodegradable and is kept to a minimum. Plastic is avoided.

Cards are packaged or wholesale in 100% post consumer recycled paper bags and display stands are made from recycled cardboard.

The products can be recycled through normal paper recycling facilities, or they are 100% biodegradable, and can be shredded and composted.

Finsbury printers separates waste at source for recycling, including aluminium printing plates and containers, as well as pallets, packaging and office waste.

At Dalum Papir, all residual products from the processing of used fibres are recycled e.g. as a raw material for making fertiliser, cement and energy.
