Raw material - Hemp is an ancient, versatile, eco-friendly and efficient carbon sequestering crop. Hemp can be grown in two months and is naturally resistant to most pests and does not require the use of herbicides. It grows densely and requires much less water than cotton, it also replenishes soil with nutrients and nitrogen and controls soil erosion. Hemp fabric is made from the stems of the plant which are processed to dissolve the gum or pectin and separate the fibres which are processed and woven into yarns and fabric.

The organic cotton blended with the hemp is from Turkey and is non-GMO Certified by SKAL

Manufacturing - The factory processing the hemp is based in the Shanxi Province in China. The process is chemical free except for the 'retting process' (used to speed the breakdown of the plant'. The company is actively working with German scientists to formulate a biological way to break down the hemp to eliminate this chemical process. Hemp naturally has a creamy colour reducing the need for bleaching and it can be blended easily with other textiles. The wraps are manufactured in Australia.

Distribution - The hemp used in this product is grown in China and is shipped to Australia. Garments can be purchased on line and distributed via post.  There is great agricultural opportunity for  growing  hemp for commercial opportunities in  Australia which would minimise the miles travelled by the raw materials.

Product use - Hemp fabrics improve with washing and keep their shape for years.

Waste management - The hemp and cotton mix is biodegradable. Packaging materials required for distribution have been minimised where possible.
